Discovering Social Innovation

Join the Community Foundation’s Future Fund as we explore and support social innovation in the Charlottesville area.

WHAT IS SOCIAL INNOVATION?

Social Innovation is all about developing new ideas and solutions to address challenging social issues. Typically, social innovation involves sharing ideas among community members, exploring new roles and relationships, and bringing together different actors to create positive change for society as a whole. Many examples of social innovation – to keep new moms and babies safe and well, end homelessness, save endangered native species, and reduce energy consumption, to name just a few - are present here in our community, and beyond.

FUTURE FUND 2016: ENGAGE. DISCOVER. TRANSFORM.

This year, the Future Fund will seek out social innovators in our area. Guided by expert mentors, we will define areas of interest, research community trends and organizations, and select leading innovations for funding. A community celebration of local social innovation will also be featured as part of the Tom Tom Founders Festival in April.

JOIN US

The Future Fund is a giving circle of local philanthropists seeking an active, engaged and rewarding way to improve our local communities. We pool our charitable dollars, explore local issues, and support selected organizations that are making a meaningful difference in our area.

Anyone is welcome to join in our discovery of social innovation. With a contribution of $250 or more, you will also participate in the funding award decision. The more we give, the bigger the impact and we encourage you all to be active participants.
