Over $600,000 provided in Grants thru CACF and Bama Works Fund
Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band and CACF provided over $600,000 in Grants to 81 Local Nonprofit Agencies in December 2012
The Charlottesville Area Community Foundation announced $621,400 in grants to local nonprofits through two grantmaking programs:
The CACF Community Endowment Fund is the Foundation’s unrestricted Grantmaking program that provides support to nonprofit organizations working to improve the quality of life in the CACF service area. Thirty-three organizations are receiving $284,600 in grant awards.
The Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band in CACF supports charitable programs in the Charlottesville area with particular focus on disadvantaged youth, needs of the disabled, protection of the environment, and the arts and humanities. Forty-eight organizations are receiving $336,800 in grant awards.
In announcing the awards, John Redick, President of the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation stated: "2012 has proved to be a challenging year for many people living and working in the Charlottesville area and for the nonprofit organizations that serve them. Coming in this holiday season, these significant “quality-of-life” grants, provided by the Community Foundation and Dave Matthews Band, will assist disabled and disadvantaged members of our community, as well as organizations working in the health, education, arts and environmental protection areas. Collectively, these organizations serve a large number of citizens in Charlottesville and the surrounding counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Nelson, Orange and Louisa. This year, thanks to the generosity of our many donors, the Community Foundation has provided over $6 million in gifts. We are deeply grateful for this support and for the services of the good organizations which will benefit from the gifts being announced today."

Twice per year, the Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band in CACF awards gifts through a competitive grant cycle. Applicants seeking a grant for the next June decision must apply no later than February 1, 2013. The CACF Community Endowment grants are also awarded through a competitive grant cycle. Agencies may apply for grants between $10,000 and $100,000 by April 1, 2013.
