NCCF Opportunity Ball Raises Funds for Nelson County
Taking the Opportunity to Care and Share - Nelson County Community Fund
The 2012 Opportunity Ball was a success. The seventh time for this event again had a Halloween Twist and took place on Friday, October 26 at Veritas Vineyard & Winery. This magical evening featured a gourmet dinner paired with Veritas wines. Revelers were rewarded for their creative Halloween finery, immortalized in photos and danced the night away to the rocking blues music of Second Nature. Silent & live auctions raised money for the Community Fund and the entire evening raised money for NCCF's grantmaking programs-- bringing to life NCCF’s motto: an Opportunity to Care and Share.
The Nelson County Community Fund is a committee-advised fund in the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation created for the express purpose of providing the most basic human services for our neighbors in need. The NCCF is made up of local volunteers who as the Advisory Committee generate and distribute grant funds for over 20 charitable groups in the County.
The Opportunity Ball is the culmination of a fundraising campaign in which individuals and corporations have taken the opportunity to make a charitable contribution for their community. Their fundraising helps to address the need for medical and dental care, improved housing, childcare, even food for our neighbors in Nelson County. All of the funds raised through sponsorships, auctions, and donations are used solely to benefit Nelson County through grants.
