Giving Opportunities

The CACF staff are always learning about interesting projects for which nonprofit organizations are seeking funding.

The list below, “Giving Opportunities,” is an attempt to make the broader public aware of these projects.  It is continually updated and has proven to be a very effective way to help nonprofit organizations in our region.  If you have questions about any of the projects described below, please contact the nonprofit organization directly, or call the CACF office.  If you would like to submit an article to Giving Opportunities please contact Sofia Case, Donor Relations and Programs Assistant, at scase@cacfonline.org.

Monticello Area Community Action Agency (MACAA) Fall Building Project

Last Updated Jun 2010

The Monticello Area Community Action Agency (MACAA) is thrilled to have been awarded a Fall Building Project by the Building Goodness Foundation (BGF). MACAA has kept a wish list of capitol repairs needing to be completed for several years and welcomed the opportunity to apply for a Fall Building project. BGF volunteers donate their time and considerable talent to accomplish the work while the applicant incurs the cost of building materials plus a project management fee.

The work to be done includes: (1) Replacing the exterior two-flight wooden stairs and railings at the Park St. Head Start Centers. These stairs are used daily by all the Head Start children and staff and show a great deal of wear and tear from use and weather; (2) Repairing and sealing the concrete stair landing; (3) Replacing the exterior railing along the sidewalk leading to the school bus loading and unloading area; (4) Painting the exterior trim of the MACAA building; 5) Patching and stabilizing several spots in the asphalt parking lot; and (6) Replace roofing on rear of the main building.

MACAA has been helping families out of poverty in the Charlottesville and surrounding area since 1965. MACAA offers a variety of initiatives and programs that educate and empower individuals and move them towards self-sufficiency and independent and productive lives.

Community involvement and support have always been integral to MACAA’s success, whether through professional expertise, direct involvement with families or monetary gifts. This project will also require support from the community. MACAA’s challenge is to raise $25,000 to cover our portion of these repairs. Please join us in making our grounds and buildings a safe place for children. Please feel free to call Karen Shepard, Executive Director (434) 295-3171 ex.3044 or Candace Goodyear, Development Director (434) 295-3171 ex. 3045 if you would like more information.
