The Charlottesville Area Community Foundation Announces Louisa County Community Fund (LCCF) 2010 Grants

The Charlottesville Area Community Foundation (CACF) is pleased to announce that eleven organizations serving Louisa County have received a total of $65,200 in grants to support their work to improve the quality of life in Louisa County.
Many years ago, Ruby and Albert Bazzanella, long time residents of Louisa County, established a donor advised fund in the Community Foundation. In 2007, CACF received a significant bequest of $1.5 million from Mr. and Mrs. Bazzanella with the stipulation that the income be directed in perpetuity to improve the quality of life in Louisa. This strategic grantmaking initiative provides a dedicated source of funds for organizations working for the benefit of Louisa citizens. The Community Foundation works with an advisory committee of Louisa community leaders to assist in determining grant recipients in Louisa County.

CACF announces the 2010 LCCF awards to the following organizations:
• Adult Community Education: $5,000 to provide educational assistance for adult residents of Louisa County.
• Goshen Baptist Association: $5,000 to assist local residents with mortgage, rent, electric and fuel expenses through the Rural Love Ministries program.
• Jefferson Area Children’s Health Improvement Program (CHIP): $5,000 to provide child safety education training to its clients.
• Louisa Resource Council: $10,000 towards the purchase of a van to help deliver free produce and food items to the Community Cupboard.
• Arc of the Piedmont: $18,000 to purchase a van to transport clients with disabilities
• Louisa County Historical Society: $2,000 to purchase a software system to help catalog archives
• Louisa Downtown Development Corporation: $2,000 to the Louisa Arts Center to provide database software
• Monticello Area Community Action Agency: $5,000 to provide clients with assistance for emergency services
• Piedmont Virginia Community College Division of Workforce Services: $5,000 for the Louisa Teamworks workforce training program
• Quickstart Tennis of Central Virginia: $3,000 to purchase equipment to implement the QuickStart Tennis program in the Louisa County schools
• Spay/Neuter All Pets: $5,000 to provide low-cost spay/neuter services to the pets of Louisa residents
