On August 1, 2009, local residents will enjoy the Eleventh Annual Westhaven Community Day, in the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority’s oldest neighborhood. This yearly event was initially intended to encourage residents to get to know each other better. The celebration now embraces a much broader vision of community, connecting neighbors to each other and the wider community. Please consider making a tax-free donation to support this important event.
The day incorporates a variety of social, recreational, educational, and wellness activities. Participants play horseshoes or take pony rides. They listen to gospel choirs and hear motivational speakers. Students receive sports physicals or make their own movies. Over 30 non-profits provide information and educational services at the all day resource fair. A nutritious lunch and healthy snacks are available at no charge. It is a day packed with opportunities for our neighbors.
