Grants are made to tax-exempt public charities under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and to government agencies. Grants are limited to projects in the Charlottesville area unless otherwise requested by a donor. This area includes the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Greene, Orange, Louisa, Fluvanna, Buckingham, and Nelson.
In an effort to expand our grantmaking, the Foundation has launched the Catalyst Grant initiative -- a new annual program that will add a proactive component to the Foundation’s grantmaking, allowing CACF to address current unmet needs in our region.
The Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band in the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation supports charitable programs in the Charlottesville area. Program interests include, but are not limited to: disadvantaged youth, needs of the disabled, protection of the environment, and the arts and humanities.
The Prana Fund in the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation is seeking innovative proposals from Charlottesville area nonprofit agencies.
Created by the Nelson County Advisory Committee, the NCCF will provide grants to a wide range of local charitable organizations, dedicated to improving the lives of Nelson County Residents.
Each year the Foundation presents its Citizenship Award to one senior from each local high school who has demonstrated active participation in community service, leadership, and academic excellence.
