Current CACF Grant Programs
Grants are made to tax-exempt public charities under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and to government agencies. Grants are limited to projects in the Charlottesville area unless otherwise requested by a donor. This area includes the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Greene, Orange, Louisa, Fluvanna, Buckingham, and Nelson.
In an effort to expand our grantmaking, the Foundation has launched the Catalyst Grant initiative -- a new annual program that will add a proactive component to the Foundation’s grantmaking, allowing CACF to address current unmet needs in our region.
The Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band in the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation supports charitable programs in the Charlottesville area. Program interests include, but are not limited to: disadvantaged youth, needs of the disabled, protection of the environment, and the arts and humanities.

Each year the Foundation presents its Citizenship Award to one senior from each local high school who has demonstrated active participation in community service, leadership, and academic excellence.
A bequest from long-time Louisa County residents Ruby and Albert Bazzanella has enabled the Community Foundation to create the Louisa County Community Fund (LCCF) directed toward improving the quality of life in Louisa. This initiative provides a significant new source of financial support to nonprofit organizations working for the betterment of Louisa County citizens. CACF hopes that over time the LCCF will grow with support from others who have a special place in their heart for those who live and work in Louisa.
Nelson County Advisory Committee (NCAC)’s Nelson County Community Fund of the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation
The Prana Fund in the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation seeks innovative proposals from Charlottesville area nonprofit agencies or schools.
