Joe H. Gieck

Mr. Gieck has been a CACF Governing Board Member since January 2005 and is the Chair of the Youth Service Award Committee and a member of the Executive, Donor Relations and Board Development Committees.
 
Mr. Gieck is currently in private physical therapy practice and serves on the Board of Directors of Senior Center of Charlottesville.
 
During his tenure as Head Athletic Trainer and Professor of Sports Medicine & Clinical Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Virginia he established the master’s program in athletic training at the University and initiated the undergraduate and first doctoral program in Sports Medicine nationally.  He is a former member and Chair of Virginia Advisory Board for Physical Therapy and of the VA Board of Health Professions and the Governor’s Council for Physical Fitness and Sports for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He was inducted into the National Athletic Trainer Hall of Fame in 1990. He has authored more than 125 publications in journals, books and book chapters.

Mr. Gieck received his B.S. from the University of Oklahoma and his M.A. and Ph.D from the University of Virginia.
