Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band in CACF

The Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band in the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation supports charitable programs locally in the Charlottesville area, nationally and internationally. Local grants (limited to the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Greene, Orange, Louisa, Fluvanna, Buckingham, and Nelson) follow a grant cycle protocol. For more information on applying for a  local grant, please visit the Bama Works Fund grant page. Proposals from organizations beyond the Charlottesville area are considered by invitation only. Grants are made to tax-exempt public charities under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and to government agencies without regard to factors of race, religion, sex or national origin. Program interests include, but are not limited to: disadvantaged youth, needs of the disabled, protection of the environment, and the arts and humanities. The Fund generally does not support: endowment programs, fund raising events, annual appeals of well-established organizations, or grants to individuals.

Dave Matthews Band and its members have made an impact with their music and by improving the lives of thousands of people. Similar stories of support play out day after day across many communities and have changed the way charitable giving is considered. You can make an impact by making a donation to the Bama Works Fund.

CACF has recognized the wonderful generosity of the Band members with a film that portrays the impact Bama Works made in our community.  At its heart, the film shows how local nonprofits benefit from this unique relationship. The stories are inspiring and include the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Music Resource Center, Boys & Girls Club, and the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
